For the love of learning

Ambleside Preparatory ultimately desires to provide a broad and rich education that fosters a lifelong love for learning, moral character development, a relationship with God, and a connection with the world.

To do this, Ambleside has adopted much of the philosophy of Charlotte Mason, a late 1800s innovative educator.

Our philosophy

Charlotte Mason’s education is characterized by “living books” rather than textbooks. This means our philosophy of education includes nature studies and outdoor observations, narration (oral and written), shorter lessons, life skills, and a deep appreciation for the arts and music.

Located in Kinston, North Carolina, we are a K-12, homeschool-hybrid, private Christian school serving students in Eastern North Carolina.

Our values

Life Skills

Essential skills like cooking, woodworking, and other hands-on activities that promote creativity, and problem-solving abilities.

Nature

Children are encouraged to explore and study the natural world, fostering curiosity, respect for the environment, and a sense of wonder.

Arts

The study of art and music are essential for cultivating a child's aesthetic sense, creativity, and emotional development.

Technology

We strive to thoughtfully incorporate technology as a tool for learning and creativity; teaching students how to leverage new advances.
